It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing yesterday of Devon Dalio.
We were friends but not close. We worked on the same desk at Bridgewater when we were just starting out in our careers. Devon was friendly, thoughtful, earnest and passionate. He had been there for few months when I finally joined, and he was never too busy to answer questions or to help out. He knew a lot more about the business than I did, so he answered a lot of questions. We were both busy, but he never seemed to mind. He brought his lunch from home every day. It was two months before I learned he was the boss's son, he was such a humble and likable guy. He went on to found his first business, and I stayed with the company for a number of years. Our paths crossed again later in his work with his family office, and I always looked forward to being in touch with him again. I will miss him. The world needs more Devon Dalios. It is immensely sad that that we have lost one. Our thoughts are with his family.
